Hennessey Mustang Sings its 808 HP Song on Dyno
It’s actually the 10,000th Mustang built by the Texas tuner, which is a major milestone.
It wasn’t that long ago that squeezing 700 to 800 horsepower out of a car was downright impressive. Today, all you need is an S550 Mustang and a blower, basically. Yes, despite what traditionalists may say, we’re truly living in the golden age of horsepower. But if you can’t possibly wait for the arrival of the 700+ hp Mustang Shelby GT500 to get your supercharged S550 fix, there are alternatives. One of which is the 808 hp Hennessey Mustang Heritage Edition with the HPE800 supercharger upgrade.
Hennessey is no stranger to extracting 700 plus horsepower from just about anything, from F-150s to of course, Mustangs. But this particular Hennessey Mustang is something extra special. It’s actually the 10,000th vehicle built by the Texas tuner, which is a major milestone, obviously.
Thus, they chose to mimic the Ford GT Heritage Edition livery on this particular car. They’re also selling the Hennessey Mustang Heritage Edition in any color you like, so long as it’s Race Red with white graphics.
You’ll have to act quickly, of course, because Hennessey is only building 19 of these brutish beauties. Packing that aforementioned 808 hp punch and 677 lb-ft of torque, it’ll rocket to 60 mph in just 3.3-seconds. The quarter mile flashes by in just 10.7 clicks, and top speed is somewhere north of 200 mph.
Not too shabby for something that comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty. And it also sounds the business on the dyno, judging from this video. This particular Hennessey Mustang laid down 673.63 horsepower and 526.56 lb-ft of torque on this run, which equates to a nominal 16.6 percent drivetrain power loss. But it’s going to need a new speedo, because this one stops registering gains after 160 mph.
But we’re sure a top speed run is in the works. And you can bet we’ll be waiting for those results.
