You may have built various things with LEGOs when you were a youngster (and let’s face it, some of their new stuff is still pretty cool), but you’ve never built anything like the BrickPony. As you can expect, it’s made out of those little plastic buildings blocks: a total of nearly 200,000 of them!

An aluminum frame starts things off, which supports the bricks that sit on top. It’s built one layer at a time, with special attention paid to smaller LEGOs added later as emblems. In total, over 1,200 hours were spent building this thing. The best part is that it is truly an animated machine. There’s a sound simulator under the “hood,” programmed to give the V8 rumble of a 289. In addition, it has working headlights and tail lights.

What I find extra neat about the BrickPony is the way it looks. From certain angles, it almost looks like an old-school 16-bit model of a car, pixellated on purpose. Despite certain LEGO models made to roll forward and have steering wheels that turn, this model is purely static. It would be inconvenient to have it roll, as it weighs a total of 1,700 pounds.

If you want to see this awesome creation in person, you’ll find it at the LEGOland Florida resort. Or you can check it on social media under the hashtag #BrickPony.
