670 HP Roush Mustang Gets 50-State EPA Certification
It’s kind of ironic, as much as we love reveling in how much power can be packed into a Mustang, we typically never think about the work that companies go through to make sure those things are street legal.
“The faster the better” tends to be the biggest caveat among power-hungry Mustang fanatics, with little, if any, concern about the legal hurdles involved in pulling it off. That’s what makes Roush’s recent feat with the 670-horsepower 2016 Roush Stage 3 Mustang such a major accomplishment.
With all that power under the hood, the company still managed to meet a 50-state EPA certification, which gives Roush the same status as Ford Motor Co. when it comes to selling its Stage 3 Mustang.
Gary Jurick, president of Roush Performance, probably sums it up best, as highlighted in a Mustang 360 report.
“Having this certification is important, as it allows us to build Roush Mustangs as pre-titled vehicles,” said Jurick. “The level of engineering, durability and compliance testing necessary to meet strict 50-state emissions certifications from CARB and the EPA is a prerequisite for enabling our dealers to sell a Roush Mustang as a new vehicle.”
In other words: this is major.
