It’s been said the beauty of appreciating a classic American car is knowing the efforts put into preserving it, or the work that went into bringing it to life. If that’s the case, then this 1967 Mustang owned by Ron Lyon is something to behold.

The coupe, which Ron picked up at the urging of his daughter, Stacy, who owns Detroit Speed and Engineering (DSE) with her husband, Kyle, is one hell of a machine.

The project took more than 18 months to complete, and includes everything from a set of Michelin Pilot tires given to Ron by his daughter, to a crate Roush/Yates Coyote engine with 560 rwhp installed by DSE.

Even more interesting is the fact that the project was driven by a 1966 Mustang Fastback Ron once owned that wound up becoming a test mule for DSE.

In addition to the performance upgrades, the ’67 Mustang (found sitting after being wrecked in 1975) also features a kick-ass paint job called Chrysler Dark Titanium, along with some cool interior features.

I imagine Ron will keep this one under tighter wraps than that ’66 he let get away.
