2022 V8 Mustang Prices Go Up Across the Board
While Ecoboost models remain the same, all 2022 V8 Mustang models see a price increase spanning as high as an additional $600.
With the ever-rising cost of, well, everything, more price increases aren’t that surprising. Unfortunately, as much as we understand why it’s happening, it’s still a bit of a bummer to see prices go up. This is especially true in this case because Ford’s pricing increase only hit their 2022 V8 Mustang Collection. The Ecoboost lineup remains identical to last year’s pricing. Now, we’re certainly not saying there’s anything wrong with an Ecoboost Mustang. If we’re completely honest, though, we’d much rather have the V8.
The nice folks over at Autoblog laid out each price increase compared to the 2021 pricing. It isn’t just GT models or higher tier stuff like the Mach 1 or GT500 either. Every 2022 V8 Mustang saw a price increase. Some, though, got a more substantial bump than others. Seemingly, without any explanation. Let’s dive into these price increases and let you know what you’re looking at paying if you’re in the market for a 2022 Mustang!
2022 V8 Mustang Prices Increase Across the Board
Let’s start with the standard 5.0L Coyote-powered models. The standard GT Coupe, GT Premium Coupe, and GT Premium Convertible all see a price increase of $165. So, the 2022 Mustang GT Coupe will now run buyers a starting price of $36,450, while the GT Premium starts at $40,450. Finally, GT Premium Convertible models now start at $45,950. While this $165 increase doesn’t seem all that drastic when we’re talking about starting at over $36,000, it’s important to remember this comes after a price increase just last year, too. Ultimately, it breaks down to only a few extra bucks a month when considering financing over a 60-month term. However, you’re buying a V8. Wouldn’t like that extra gallon of gas in there somewhere?
Of course, as stated, this price increase affects the entire 2022 V8 Mustang lineup. The most drastically increased example is the 2022 Mustang Mach 1. Which, if you’ll recall, saw a decrease in power by 10 horsepower and 10 pound-feet of torque for the 2022 model year. The Mach 1, of course, being the more track and sporty driving focused step up from the GT, already carries a higher price. It sees a price increase of $600, making the starting price of a 2022 Mustang Mach 1 $52,400.
GT500 Healthy Price Increase
Though not quite as drastic as the Mach 1 and its $600 price increase, the 2022 Mustang GT500 does also have quite a bump. Its starting price for the 2022 model year is $73,565, a $565 increase from the 2021 model year. Though, of all of them, this one seems to sting the least to us just for the fact that it’s a GT500. It seems that if you’re already spending $73,000, the extra $565 is not likely to make or break your decision to buy.
Overall, the average price increase across the 2022 V8 Mustang lineup is $332, which is right about on par with where it was last year. These are just the things we’ve got to learn to live with. However, we think the sound of a screaming 5.0L or 5.2L V8 will help ease the pain.
