2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 Review Goes Deeper Than Ever Before
There are many 2020 Shelby GT500 reviews out there, but none are as detailed as this amazing video deep dive.
By now, we’ve all seen a million 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 reviews. Seemingly everyone, from journalists to YouTubers, has gotten their hands on the latest and greatest Shelby GT500 and given their impressions on it, using either written or spoken words. But this new review from YouTuber Savage Geese is easily the most in-depth, detailed one we’ve seen yet.
The review kicks off with some interior impressions, and Savage Geese points out that it’s “surprisingly practical” as well as comfortable, thanks to those cushy Recaro seats. Even little things like buttons and switches were placed with a lot of thought. “The control structure in this car is very logical,” our host says. “The touchpoints are great.”
Next, we dive into the technical details of the 2020 Shelby GT500, which Savage Geese sums up as being basically amazing. “What the four performance engineers who are separate from the Ford Mustang engineers have accomplished with this car is just genuinely incredible,” he says. As our host notes, it’s common to produce a vehicle with incredible specs, but sometimes, “you engineer out the driver experience.” Thankfully, that isn’t the case with the new GT500.
Interestingly, Savage Geese uses the C8 Corvette as an example of that. “The C8 is incredibly fast. And from an engineering standpoint, the platform is way more impressive than the S550 Mustang. But that car lacks heart. It lacks soul.” The GT500, on the other hand, has all of those things. Ford also managed to tame the car’s impressive 760 horsepower, which in and of itself is an impressive feat.
They did that with extensive amounts of aero that has been tested thoroughly, the perfect suspension tuning, and perhaps a little bit of magic. And after going through every single one of those components and changes in extreme detail, Savage Geese gets the GT500 out and actually drives it. Only then does he discover how well it all works together in unison.
“I’m not kidding. I’m not joking. This is amazing,” he says. “What the engineers have done with this thing – I never say this about cars – it’s incredible.” This is pretty much the conclusion everyone who’s driven the 2020 GT500 has about the car, but in this case, the reviewer has gone far deeper into the GT500 than anyone to date, and that makes it even more genuine.
