Scary.

That’s my take on this rendering of a hatchback model for the new Mustang. In concept, this would probably add a lot more functionality to the S550, but at a hefty price. That price being catastrophic ugliness.

In all fairness, even Theophilus Chin, the artist who created the rendering, called it a “fail,” saying the initial goal was to create a “shooting brake” spin on the S550. You certainly mustn’t attribute the fail to Chin’s rendering abilities. The guy is one of the greats in the industry. It looks as though the S550 Mustang’s design just can’t be converted to a long-roof without causing some temporary blindness.

Now, from this angle, things don’t seem so bad. A shooting-brake ‘Stang would be perfect for someone willing to stand at this angle 24/7.
