2015 Mustang Cobra Jet Confirmed

Contrary to rumors, Ford will not be shifting the drag racing special to the Ford Fusion or Taurus for the 2015 model year as first speculated by Hot Rod magazine.

Mustangs Daily spoke to Ford Racing head Jamie Allison who told the new source, the “Mustang and Cobra Jet are inseparable.”

The earlier Hot Rod report suggested that another Ford exec seemed to be trying to dodge answering whether the Cobra Jet program would continue with the next gen Mustang, which has fueled rumors that the Fusion or Taurus might be in-line to take its place.

Who knows – maybe Ford was actually considering it at some point and only recently decided it was a bad idea after some of the negative comments started pouring in. Either way, we’re just glad the company has decided to keep the program attached to the Mustang moving forward.

Even better, it appears that you can already put in an order for a 2015 Mustang Cobra Jet. Back in July,  Kershaw reportedly told Mustangs Daily that Ford Racing accepts placeholder orders for future Cobra Jets under the part number M-FR500-CJ.
