1993 Ford Mustang Cobra R Gets the Hot Wheels Red Line Club Treatment
A rare and valuable machine in today’s world, the 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra R is now getting the special 1:64 model treatment.
In the expansive, 60+ year-old world of the Ford Mustang, there have been many special iterations of the iconic pony car that have graced this earth. Arguably one of the most special of that bunch – not to mention coveted – is the 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra R, a track-focused version of the regular Cobra that was built for just one model year in the Fox Body generation, and limited to only 107 units. These days, the Fox-era Ford Mustang Cobra R is a supremely valuable collectible, but now, those of us that lack that kind of cash can score a smaller version for much less.
That’s because Hot Wheels is set to add the 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra R to its special, members-only Red Line Club on November 7, 2025, and it can be purchased here for a mere $28 – far less than the $200k+ we’ve seen the real thing go for on one occasion as of late. Of course, you have to be an RLC member to get that privilege, but joining the club costs a mere $9.99 per year, giving one access to a full line of unique and limited-edition models.
As for the 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra R RLC model, it’s a special 1:64 scale piece that features a realistic look with a hood that opens, revealing the high-output 5.0L V8 present underneath – in great detail, we might add. The ZAMAC body is finished in the shiny hue dubbed Spectraflame Shadowchrome, fitted to a full metal matte black chassis, and the windows are even tinted in light smoke.
The RLC Cobra R rolls on a set of Real Riders six-spoke mag wheels, and it features a nicely detailed black interior, to boot, plus a license plate out back that reads “SHADOW” – which, according to Hot Wheels, is intended to “remind other drivers that competition can strike out of nowhere.”
As is the case with all RLC models, this 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra R comes packaged on an illustrated blister card, and within a protective Kar Keepers clamshell case, so one can preserve it as a future collectible – though quantities are limited, with each member able to purchase a total of two.
