The upcoming Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Las Vegas will include a one-of a kind Mustang Cobra Jet on the selling block packaged with a few other thrills to raise money for a charity.

The 2014 prototype, which will be sold on Saturday, Sept. 28, will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

“We’re proud to offer the opportunity for a serious competitor to up their game with this Mustang Cobra Jet,” said Steve Ling, North America car marketing manager for Ford, as reported by Torque News in a recently posted story.  “But, just as important, we’re honored the proceeds will support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s work with those living with this disabling disease of the central nervous system. Through our long-standing relationship with Barrett-Jackson, we continue to support charities through exceptional vehicle sales.”

Some of the Cobra Jet’s unique features include a fiery orange satin finish with a dark grey reflective stripe racing livery.

Tagged with the unique serial number of #2014 BJMS CJXX1, the prototype is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged engine with a T4 racing transmission. The one-of-a-kind NHRA competition-ready car, which is reportedly capable of doing a quarter mile in approximately nine-seconds, also is equipped with exclusive Cobra Jet branded wheels with lightweight racing brakes.

Interior features include custom Cobra Jet branded Recaro race seats and 8.50 ET certified chrome-moly safety cage.

The dragster’s rear suspension features a 3-link set up with a 9″ rear end and wheelie bar, which gives the car an additional thrill factor for any potential buyer who likes weekends at the track.

In addition to the car, the winning bidder will reportedly get training at Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School,  a tour of the Ford Product Development Center and Ford Racing with Mustang Chief Engineer Dave Pericak, including a backstage pass into the Ford Design Studios.

The winning bidder will also receive their experience captured for a future Mustang book and documentary as well as a video of the vehicle build, testing and Barrett-Jackson auction in Las Vegas.

Pericak said the Cobra Jet packaged with the other elements offers the winning bidder with a once-in-a-life-time experience, according to a company press release.

“Few get to see the inner working of the Ford Product Development Center and Ford Racing to learn how to leverage the Cobra Jet’s power,” notes Pericak. “This information can then be taken to the track to immediately break into competitive racing.”
