Eager Ford Mustang fans in Europe want have to wait too long to get their hands on the new model after it is unveiled next year.

Clearly, there will be some perks that come with being based in the states when Ford’s next-gen pony car debuts in 2014 when it comes to getting your hands on one of the highly-anticipated models − as it should, considering the  Mustang’s strong American roots. But Hannu Pärssinen, with Ford Finland, said that the carmaker will introduce the new Mustang in Europe in 2015, according to Market Press.com report.

Pärssinen said the company hasn’t confirmed a specific date for the 2015 Mustang’s official debut in the European market. However, he did note that the car will start pre-sales in Findland next year, notes the report.

The MarketPress report indicates an engineering version of the car could arrive in Europe as early as December of 2014.

To date, the Ford Mustang has only been offered in Europe by private importers.  The new 2015 model will be available through Ford’s global dealer network in Europe as part of Ford’s new “One Ford” global product strategy.

Earlier this year, Ford of Europe Design Chief Martin Smith told Automotive News that appealing to the European market and not alienating longstanding loyal fans of the Mustang has been important part of the development strategy for the new model.

“That is a really interesting challenge,” Smith told the industry news source during an interview at the Geneva auto show in a March report. “What will emerge from that whole process is one of the best sports cars in the world and one that is still affordable.”

Many of the renderings that have been circulating of the 2015 Mustang indicate that the new model will feature a number of European styling cues based on the Evos Concept car, which was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Most of the modifications for the European version of the Mustang are expected to come under the hood with the available engine options although there have been different speculations on what those options will actually include.

The Market Press report notes that the potential engine options could include an alternative to an eco-turbo 2.3-liter 275-horsepower engine or an engine similar to the one used on the Ford Focus ST, which features an enhanced version of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that generates 252 horsepower.
