So some have known I have been running a Taurus manifold for a few years. I bought the car wrecked and the manifold was gone so I built a Taurus setup to run on the 3.7. It worked great raised the power band and made 100 rwhp through factory cats right to 7300. It ran flawlessly
I want to try a new setup but it will be based off the stock lower ao I wanted to try some thoughts out for a stock manifold. I hand ported the entire aetup, removed the pinch points from the plenum, and fabricated a 2" riser.
I never liked how the stock setup made a near 120° turn into the sharp radius to the passenger heads. So add I ng the riser really straighten
s the airflow path and makes a much easier transition
These results early pics so don't flame me on how rough it is. I also ran an 80mm tb from an F150 because no way I was buying a BBK for price they are asking. C&L meter 3" intake pipe.
MPT did the tuning. The spacer or riser added .6 liters to the manifold.
First off the difference in sound is extraordinary, when it comes up on 3500 rpm or so it goes into full song and really comes alive. The car pulls so so much harder. The exhaust note up top is crash and clear. Everywhere in the power band is better. MPT has a data log and I am anxiously awaiting how it looks compared to other ported manifolds. Will be a few weeks before I can get back to the car and possibly get it on a dyno or down the track. It will be on all weather tires and through the stock cats. Since the other manifold was good for 280, I will be shocked if this doesn't kick through 300 in a strong way.
I received a revised tune from MPT and it was only minor revisions, I almost can't imagine the car running any better. It will be another week before I can get back in the car but I'm dieing to get it on the rollers and run it at the track.
How much more power are you expecting for the setup? Are you expecting any hit on reliability? If Yes, What could be the supporting mods to make the car more reliable?
My previous run on the Dyno had the car at 280 to the wheels through stock cats. The leap on hp was substantial and it transformed the car to another level, how much I don't know yet but I can't imagine not being over the 300 rwhp mark. There should be no loss of reliability with this setup as it retains everything the stock setup has. I would love to find a car with ported intakes and run them side by side. If the numbers work out as good as I belive they will I will look into reproducing these
How did you fabricate the riser? What material is that? Are you doing this by hand or CNC?
The material is a teflon/plastic like material. It comes in a slab and it's 2" thick. I have used it in running the Taurus manifold and it held up quite nicely. I was unable to get time on the Milling machine and was done on a drill press and hand porting. I will check into getting them 3d printed. Still I have to see gains that would warrant going further. If I see 305 through the cats I will look deeper into the setup.

I'm having a tough time trying to find time for the dyno, it's an hour and a half away and tough to get an appointment. But it's running fantastic and problem free
I ended up building this for my project using Jenvy 3.7 runners, a custom bottom plenum and some off the shelf Holley parts. Won't know what just the intake does for HP, many other mods being done at the same time.
