Left the car parked for the long weekend, when I came out and started it this morning I got a CEL. Didn't notice anything unusual with the engine start up or during the couple minutes it was idling before I took off.

When I got to town I pulled over and plugged in the X-2 to read the codes . . . .

P2005 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open (Bank 2)
P2006 - IMRC Bank 1 Stuck Closed

I cleared the codes and drove the last 50 miles to work with no new CEL and no noticeable problems.

Anybody had this happen to them?

After tuning my car i got the codes:

P2004 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open (Bank 1)
P2005 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open (Bank 2)

If I cleared them or loaded a new x-cal2 program they would appear about a few start-ups later. I talked to a guy who got the same codes and he suggested after loading the program, run the car hard for a few minutes and it worked for him. So i tried it and it's been about a week now and no more CEL so far.

Thanks Guys . . .

I've had the current tune in the car for a couple months now with absolutely no problems, so I don't think the tune issue pertains in my case.

I've gone through nearly a dozen cold start cycles since the DTC event with no further CEL issues so I'm going to chalk it up to a fluke (Rats in the cellar ) for the time being.

I got the 2004 and 2005 codes today. I notice the car was idling a little on the high side, around 1200 rpm, when I shut it off, but I had just cranked it up a minute before and drove a hundred yards down the street to the Touch n Go.

I had just loaded Doug's 87 Performance tune a few days before, since the base ran out of 93 octane.

I cleared it with the Xcal2, we'll see if it comes back.

I throw the P2004 and P2005 codes repeatedly. When I first started throwing these codes, the weather fluctuated b/t 30's and 80's, and i seemed to only get the codes on those colder mornings and i could go for a week or two without any CEL. But now since the mornings are always in the 30's, I seem to throw it after ever other start up after i clear them. The weather and CEL may just be coincidence, but i've tried others' suggestions to no avail. If anyone can help me out i'd appreciate it.

Sounds about right. It's been warm around here, then it dropped down below freezing last night for the first time this year, and the car threw the code. Maybe there is a coincidence.

I believe there is a TSB out for this. I had this problem along time ago before I started modding heavily... My Mechanic changed out the Intake runner control modules and I've never had the problems (codes) since. I would go to a dealership and have them replaced.

Well, it's been nearly two months without a CEL, until yesterday.

I had another set of IMRC codes, P2004 and 2005 this time. I searched, but didn't see the TSB on this Vegasjay.

I guess I'll have to make a trip to the dealer soon before the warranty is up.

Let us know what you gind out. I have gotten the P2004 and P2005 a couple of times now. It's usually on days where it was really warm the day before, and then really cold when I start it up. Weird.

I just clear them, car runs fine. Probably will take it in the next time they pop up.

I finally got around to taking my car to the dealership to see about those p2004 p2005 codes. Like what was mentioned early, they are going to replace the intake manifold runner control actuators Monday.

Thumbs up

I finally bit the bullet and took mine in for the codes, it's the intake manifold runner control actuators as I we all suspected.

The head mechanic said there is a TSB out on this issue but I'll be darned if I can find it.

Anybody know about this and where I might find it?

The dealer. He should be able provide you with a copy of the TSB when the work gets done. If they don't automatically, you should ask for them. I had warranty work done that wasn't on the list here, that's why I ask. I keep all of that stuff for my personal records.

FYI . . . . they replaced the actuator a day or two after I initially posted this and thus far I've had no further problems.

Just check to see if the actuators are moving by having a buddy push on the gas while you look at the Runner Control and if they are responding then just Clear the code(s) and restart and see if that helps before ripping your engine apart.

Hahaha, great first post dude. Only problem is you're talking to ghosts. This discussion is 10 years old, lol.
