Looking like I have a airbag recall I need to go in for. Also there is a TSB for the manual transmission where they swap to synthetic fluid. Have any of y'all taken your car in for these? Others?

TSBs are covered out of warranty?

That sounds like a win-win. No more exploading-airbag-of-death and new trans fluid.

The thing is the dealer likely won't have the airbag replacement part for a while. And yes, it should be at no cost to you.

They just don't have the part available?

TSBs are NOT covered outside of warranty. Some dealers will still perform them for free.

Recalls (safety related) are covered even if you're out of warranty. TSB's (not safety related) are not covered if you're out of warranty.

You can contact your dealer about the airbag recall, but they won't have a replacement part. They may not have one this year...or even before you eventually get rid of the car. There's another thread specifically about that recall. Search for that thread and you can keep an eye on what others are being told by Ford and their local dealerships.

Have you seen anything about Takata in the news? There's over 100 million cars worldwide needing airbag replacements thanks to their faulty parts. Our cars are part of it but a lower risk model than many others, which is why the recall will take so long.

As far as the transmission fluid one, yes, a ton of us had that done back in 2012 and since. It helps.
