It basically tells the tech to look for aftermarket tuning.

There's a tsb for ford to look for aftermarket tunes? I'm not doubting ya, but who in their right mind would take it to ford for the sole purpose of having them check for a tune and void their warranty????? I can see that happening when they take it in for something else, and in the process ford FINDS the tune....

That's what the TSB directs...if you take your car to the dealer for a drivetrain related issue, Ford's troubleshooting process would include looking to see if the ECM has been modified. Ford won't normally look at your tune if you take your car in for other services, say an oil change as an example.

You been living under a rock? It's a pretty old TSB from the #8 days...like he said, it instructs the tech to look for modifications so that they can void the warranty on a blown #8.

Try to show a bit of consideration....not everyone owned an early 5.0 with that problem. They just asked.

I used to work out of Denton Tx. Talk about living under a rock....

And I just confirmed what the TSB was about. I don't own a 5.0 either, so that's irrelevant. He was also just posting in a thread and didn't know that AM had a forum discount. For someone with so many posts, I find both of those surprising.

Anyone in here ever read a CAI thread, or is that an inconsiderate question to you too?

I got rid of the squeak noise from my second set of control arms, as soon as I lowered the car with a set of K springs from Ford Racing, now the suspension doesn`t go up and down so much over the speed bumps and the noise is gone, hehe

Nope, not inconsiderate question at all. Nothing to do with the response you made earlier, but not inconsiderate.

Whoa whoa whoa man. We've had some good posts/exchanges before, so I'd appreciate the tone down...

Regarding your first quote, I'm familiar with the #8 tho I never had the issue. The comment/question I had was in specific context to the verbiage he put on that tsb. It made no mention to the #8, so no I'm not familiar with the exact tsb. It just seemed odd that there's a tsb to LOOK for a tune... Or so it seemed on the verbiage. But now I understand that if the customer takes it in for some other issues, the tech will be instructed to find the tune. Ok, makes sense.

As to your second quote, I KNOW there's a forum discount for AM, but I never bought from them before so if they never gave out the code except in private, how the heck will I know what the code actually is???

Could someone clarify what's the difference between an SSM and TSB. Is an SSM an issue that hasn't become a TSB yet?

Also, is there anywhere online to see these SSMs? I've got several of these and would love to go into the dealer with printouts in hand.

I think he meant Google. They should be pretty easy to find.

Thanks but Google doesn't do it for me. I agree with "they should be pretty easy to find" but I am not having any success.
