A little update on the MT-82 issue
Wow, just got off the phone with my dealership. I wanted to make an appointment for an oil change and let them know of my engine tick and some suspension noise I been hearing up front. I also mentioned the rough shifting and my adviser said that they had done a "bunch" of those. For him, he must have done at least 15 cars. I was shocked when I heard this since when I called about 2 months ago to have it changed, they didn't even have the fluid in stock. I was going to be the first one to have it done and I opted out to wait.
Shocking. I guess the issue is widespread. This is a dealership in NOVA area. He also stated that people that had the fluid replaced, didn't return...yet. I told him Ford is working on a new fix, since fluid is temporary. He laughed. I was quite encouraged to hear that the number of cases has risen. I really thought it was sporadic issue, but it might be more widespread then we initially thought.
Thought you guys might like to hear that. The newest updated from a ford rep is that the engineers are really looking into the issue and trying to resolve a new fix for it.

Step 1: Stop production in China
Step 2: Move production to USA
Step 3: Eat massive retooling costs and PR hit
Step 4: Learn that sometimes, saving money costs you more money in the long run, and that you can't trust Chinese QC.

NO new transmission should be shedding teeth and pieces of gears to the bottom of the tranny case, or grinding gears, or preventing shifting gears, just like NO new iPad should smoke and spark when you turn it on - if your iPad did that, may I suggest that you'd have a different take on the situation? Since iPads don't self destruct, one could deduce that Apple has more stringent standards on their contractors than does Ford...

Ford and Getrag tried opening up shop in the states for this venture. The economic climate destroyed any hope of that happening though.
I believe they were looking at Virginia to build the factory.

Here's a newsflash... Detroit has thousands of skilled auto workers, with unemployment thru the roof...
