2013 decklid panel detailing

I was just wondering what products the other '13 guys are using to clean, polish, and protect their decklid panels.

I can't see any swirls or defects in the sunlight, but when I shine my LED flashlight on it I can see some swirls on the surface and quite possibly a few defects under the finish which I'll obviously just have to live with.

Any help would be appreciated, as I'm detailing the Mustang before I put her away for the winter.

Treat it the same way as paint and wax it accordingly. Try to not touch it much when you open the trunk. Good wax will remove the micro marring. Meguiars brand.

The prior flat plastic or painted panels are the ones that are (insert word here)

The dealer that installed my clear bra custom made a clear vinyl for this panel for me

I got sick of mine showing dust/dirt on it after a 2-minute drive or swirl marks on it when clean so I plasti-dipped the whole thing yesterday

Not quite sure if I'll peel off the plasti-dip from the faux gas cap or not, for now it's all covered.

Good thing you didn't get a black car Gabe. Lol it's a full time job trying to reduce all the swirls.

I was planning on doing something like this, but held off on the clear bra... I've waxed it a couple of times, and took some polish to it last night to remove some of the fine swirls, just didn't know if there was a better way since it was plastic...

You can use mequiars scratch 2.0 on that panel and have it looking like glass. The panel is basically a plastic composite material that is finished with a plastic clear coat.

The polish will work great but the scratch x will be amazing. Scratch x not only removes scratches on paint but I've used it to get scratches off my headlights, windshield, vintage toys (laugh) and even the fake interior chrome.

I had a black vehicle ONCE and never doing it again ... lol

I have a gray car for a reason ... lol

Black is the best-looking color when clean.
Trouble is, a black car is only a clean black car for about 3 minutes ... then it's a dirty black car ... lol

Yes, I do. I just tell the truth and don't sugar coat it.

Was considering clear vinyl too but was having trouble finding somewhere to buy it uncut in less than a full roll. (Group buy?) No swirls or scratches so far, but wax nor Zaino seem to be helping keep the dust off. Was thinking RainX next.

Hmmm, Ive got a tube kicking around I might try on my tailights, as they have this growing film that I cant remove. At first it looked like fingerprints and I thought maybe Id accidentally rubbed paint sealant on them but theyve grown so its either scratches and/or oxidation (or whatever happens to your headlights), I guess. Was considering using RainX's headlight kit (that I recently used on my mother-in-laws headlights) or maybe plastic polish, but forgot I had the ScratchX already, so thanks for that idea. I tried it on my old, black car, but it needed more help than that, so its just been in my bin of little-used products, lol.

If I had a 2013, the first thing I would do is have the deck lid panel and tai lights sprayed with a matte clear at a body shop. You'd never have to worry about them again!

Actually mine stays clean for days. Though I do dread pollen.

I take the dust off with a California Duster, then use Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer with a microfiber to clean it. I do the rest of the car the same way. I've only washed it once since I've owned it. It doesn't rain here much and I use a car cover.
