flywheel help please

flywheel help please

my son and i changed out his auto for a 4 speed and we got it going now we have a bad vibertion just sitting there in nueturel i was told that we have the wrong flywheel ???? we use the that cam with it ,, so how do we get the right one ,, its a 65 with a 289 ,, and how do we tell what we have also ????

Start with getting the casting number(part number) off the flywheel....that will help determine what application it is for.

The 289 is a 28oz imbalance and the later model 302 is a 50oz imbalance...if you have a later model flywheel then you will have a bad vibration.

would the weight be the same on a flex plate and a flywheel

Weight no, the flywheel would always be heavier but it is the imbalance amount that matters.

ok thanks we will break it down sat and getinto it and see ,,, i think we found a 28 oz imbalance for 50 bucks ,, i can t wait to see whats in there now !!!

ok guys here the deal ,,
we did have the wrong flywheel ,,and pressure plate and disk,, once we changed the flywheel the pressure plate was wrong and the disk so we changed all and all is great ,, we even adjusted the shifter and add fluid to tranny and changed the speedo cable and gear ,,,, now all we need to do is adjust the clutch lol he says it catches at the top ???? right now i have the adjuster most of the way in,, do i just extend it a little ???
