Wicked 2000-HP 'Snot Rocket' Mustang Is a Drag Strip Monster

YouTube’s That Racing Channel demonstrates the sensational performance capability of Ford’s Coyote V8 equipped Mustang with Brett Lasala’s modified drag racer.

For its 2011 model year, the Blue Oval brand introduced a wide range of mechanical updates across its Mustang lineup. The GT models received the formidable 5.0-liter 32-valve Coyote V8, which has proven to be one of Ford’s most lauded powerplants in recent years. Now, in one of its most recent videos, That Racing Channel demonstrates the sensational performance capability of this race-capable powerhouse.

The video itself has been shot well and makes for an exciting spectacle. TRC’s Javier is joined by Brett Lasala and his 2013 “Snot Rocket” Mustang. Lasala procured the ride back in 2014, and since then, the pony car has undergone a major transformation. The Mustang’s Coyote V8 is now mated to a pair of 76 mm turbochargers that offer 40 PSI of boost, which according to Lasala translates into 2000 wheel horsepower.

“This stage of build we did, upgraded the turbos. Went from 68 millimeters to 76.75, so we upgraded the fuel system with an Aeromotive 10-gallon-per-minute brushless pump, and we updated the catch can setup. We did a remote catch can in the trunk, a large one, but actually, the vent comes up through the trunk,” said Lasala.

He further added, ”Re-plumb the whole car too, and with all the new bigger stuff. We have the Dash 16, the catch can, Dash 12 for the fuel system. It’s all Red Horse fittings, Red Horse hoses. Use PTFE Red Horse lines on all the trans cooler stuff, and it all just came out really nice.”

The car runs on One Ethanol R, and the powerplant is mated to ATF speed’s close-ratio three-speed transmission. On its first run, the ’13 Mustang delivered a quarter-mile time of just 7.1 seconds with an exit speed of 188.81 MPH. Lasala intends to push the limits of his car even further with a target of achieving a six-second quarter-mile run time.

Aesthetically, the Snot Rocket is somewhat of a sleeper as the Snot Rocket retains creature comforts such as power steering, power locks, and power windows. The car’s styling is mostly stock as Lasala wanted the build to retain the essence of the streetcar.
