This Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 owner isn’t afraid to drive his car precisely the way Carroll himself would have wanted.

Long gone but certainly not forgotten, the S550-generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is still a fan favorite for a variety of reasons, but chiefly among them is the fact that it’s one of the purest, most satisfying track day cars out there. Sure, the last-gen GT350 has faced some criticisms – and lawsuits – pertaining to some overheating issues pertaining to the transmission and rear differential, but for the most part, we are still talking about a fantastic weekend warrior – and that’s abundantly clear in this recent video from Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 owner and YouTuber ManualLiberty.

While attending the recent Mustang Club of America 60th anniversary celebration at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, our host was able to test out his ride both on the track and at the autocross setup, which we get to enjoy in this clip thanks to a POV camera and some additional footage trailing the car around that circuit.

Our host points out that his Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires require one to build up some heat in the rubber before they’ll grip properly, which probably didn’t help on this short course. Regardless, he had a heck of a good time, and the car still performed rather well on this course, even if those tires may not necessarily be the best choice for autocross in general.

Honestly, we weren’t even trying to time these laps or figure out how well this Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 stacked up against the competition, mostly because we always find ourselves enamored (and distracted) by the sweet sounds emanating from the naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 powerplant. While it may also have its known issues, there’s just something magical about a flat plane crank V8 that makes such worries disappear the minute you hit the limiter, honestly.

While the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 seems less likely to make a comeback than the GT500 with the new S650 generation pony car, we can at least take solace in the fact that these cars are pretty affordable on the used market – for now, at least. That likely won’t be the case forever, but truthfully, we’d have a hard time keeping one in the wrapper as a future collectible – mainly because, as we can see here, they’re just too much fun to drive.
