Dark Horse 1000R

New Mustang Dark Horse looks amazing, but the Fathouse Performance ‘1000R’ package promises to make it even better.

The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse will be the most track focused 5.0L V8 Mustang ever. The centerpiece of the Dark Horse is the 500 horsepower Coyote engine. And as good as that is the folks at Fathouse Performance believe they can do better. A lot better. They recently teased on social media a new ‘1000R’ twin-turbo package based on the Dark Horse. Details are scarce but it doesn’t take much to surmise that the idea is to produce a 1,000 horsepower Dark Horse.

This will not be new territory for Fathouse Performance. They currently offer a ‘750R’ supercharged package, and an ‘850R’ and ‘1250R’ twin-turbo package for 2018+ Mustangs. The top-spec 1250R makes 800 horsepower on 93 octane fuel and over 1,200 horsepower on E85. The also have a ‘Code Red’ package for the Shelby GT500 that makes 1,300 horsepower. So big power numbers are what Fathouse Performance does best. The Dark Horse should make an excellent new platform for them to play with.

Fathouse Performance

Burnout

One of the greatest aspects of owning a Mustang is the tremendous aftermarket support that exists for the model. Fathhouse Performance is one of those aftermarket companies. They offer various packages for the Mach 1, GT350, GT500, and standard 2018+ Mustang GT. Most of their packages boost horsepower with either a supercharger and twin-turbo setup. Their work is top notch, but you are going to pay for it. Right now, they have two cars available for sale on their website. One is a GT350 widebody with 850 horsepower on 93 octane fuel. The other listed for sale is a twin-turbo GT350R. The widebody is listed for $229,999 and the twin-turbo GT350R is listed at $110,000. So, the Dark Horse 1000R will likely be a six-figure Mustang.

What to Expect

Wheels

What the 1000R package will consist of is pure speculation at this point. But we can make some educated guesses based on what Fathouse includes on their 2018+ Mustang GT 1250R twin-turbo package. That package has custom fabricated stainless steel turbo headers. Titanium turbo header blankets are also included. The turbos themselves are Xona Rotor Dual Ball Bearing turbochargers. The package has 4.5-inch air-to-air intercooler, ID1300x fuel injectors, and a whole lot more. A lot of these components will likely find their way onto the Dark Horse.

When

Dark Horse

We don’t know when the 1000R package will be ready. But the Dark Horse will not go on sale until the summer of 2023. The Fathouse needs to get one for their research and development, and then they can release the package. So, we are a likely at least a year out. That is the bad news. The good news that you have at least a year to save up enough cash to buy one. Based on what we know of the Dark Horse and the Fathouse Performance crew we are fairly certain you are going to want this car.
