Throwback Flick: 2003 Video Of The “All New” Terminator Cobra

I saw a bone-stock 03/04 Cobra over the weekend (a rare sight these days) and it took me back to The Nashville Network (TNN) and the old Motor Trend TV review of the then, all-new Cobra. I can still vividly recall the infamous host, Jim Scoutten praising the new car for its ground breaking performance–it was faster than a Corvette of the same year!
So I went digging and unearthed this very video. According to the throwback flick, the Cobra sprinted to 60 in 4.5 seconds and knocked down a quarter-mile time of 12-flat @ 111 mph. But that’s not all, it pulled .90-Gs on the skid-pad and completed the 70-0 stopping test in 182 feet.
All these figures are still impressive by today’s standard, but perhaps what hits home the most is the MSRP.The coupe stickered for $34,750 and the convertible, a cool $38,995. What’s so interesting? Well, a clean Cobra is fetching top 20s these days, despite being a decade old–looks like Ford created a legend with the Terminator. Speaking of terminator, did you notice how the head of SVT slipped in, “it will terminate the competition,?” Pretty slick, huh?
