The Villain is Here to Haunt Your Dreams
Classic Recreations is a shop known for its award-winning coach-built cars. They specialize in classic Ford Mustangs, and they turn out some of the most amazing builds around. That means, when it comes to building the ultimate Mustang, this is the place to go. However, the shop wanted to turn up the heat on a select few cars to truly show off its talents. Thus, CR Supercars was born.
And in order to bring about the apocalypse, they brought a Villain to SEMA.
The Villain is a 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback that’s been thoroughly worked over from bumper to bumper with an attention to detail rivaling that of a brain surgeon.
First off, the original engine had to go. Not only did CR Supercars want a classic coach-built Mustang, but the company also wanted it to be the best of the new paired with the best of the old. That meant the old 390 V8 was out and a brand-new 5.0L Coyote V8 straight from Ford Racing tuned for 420 horsepower was in.
The engine is backed by a six-speed T56 Magnum transmission with a multi-disc clutch from Centerforce Clutches helping to keep all that power directed properly.
Additionally, CR Supercars got rid of the heavy sheet-metal body panels. Instead they used 3D-rendered composite versions. Not only did these changes help reduce the car’s curb weight, but they also gave the car actual aerodynamic improvements. That means the car goes much faster than ever imagined.
Included in all these changes are upgrades to the brakes. CR Supercars used six-piston calipers all the way around from Wilwood to ensure blistering stopping power. They also included a fully independent suspension allowing the car to go fast in a straight line, as well as fast through the corners.
This car represents what I believe is the perfect classic Mustang. It offers modern power but classic good looks… this Villain is all good.
We’re getting a first drive of this car soon so stay tuned.
