Boss 302

The BOSS 302 is perhaps one of the most widely known variants of the Mustang platform. The combination of brute force, and great handling gave Ford the perfect platform to take on the rigors of road racing when the car first came out in 1969. It was an absolute animal, and that showed when Ford began to dominate the SCCA and Trans Am series during the BOSS’s reign.

This week, we thought we’d give you all a better look into the history of the BOSS 302 and the racing pedigree that it has since instilled in Ford. Without it, we certainly wouldn’t have had the last generation BOSS 302 or the new Shelby GT350 twins.

In the video below, Kevin Oeste of V8TV, who is basically a muscle car savant, will walk you through the finer points of the car using a a Bright Gold Metallic 1970 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 as his showpiece. Oeste, aka Professor Muscle Car, details just what went into building one of the most capable Ford racing cars of all time. Have a look and enjoy the brilliant sound of that 302 V8.
