A Supercharged Mustang Duels With a Camaro ZL1 on the Strip

Video shows two very hot Ford and Chevy pony cars duking it out to the bitter end on the strip.

If there’s one thing we never get tired of seeing, it’s a good showdown between a Mustang and a Camaro.

A prime example is this clip from AutoEvolution showing a supercharged 2017 Mustang GT going toe-to-toe with a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 at the drag strip.

Details on the Mustang’s mods are sketchy other than speculation that the Ford has likely been beefed up with a Procharger kit. It’s also clear that the Mustang is fitted with drag radials for better traction on the strip.

There’s even less info about whether or not the Camaro ZL1 is modified. But we know that the factory model plays in the high-11s in the ¼ mile run. That would put this Camaro right on par with the Procharged Mustang, which clocked a best time of 11.6 seconds over the course of the day, according to sources at the event.

Oddly enough, neither the Ford or Chevy reach those speeds in this clip. But the race is still plenty entertaining for those who love seeing a good American muscle battle. Still, it makes us more eager to see how Ford’s next stock high-performance Mustang will measure up against the ZL1.
