C6 Vs 2011 5.0
I just test drove a 2009 C6 Corvette Vert----Auto
Car was nice, tame, but when i punched it, not only did my head snap back, but it made the loudest meanest, beastliest of roars i have ever heard come out of a bone stock vehicle!
Then the fun stopped when i got back into my 08 GT/CS Vert----NO COMPARISON!
Do you guys and gals think the new 5.0 will have that roar?
SICK SICK SICK! I WANT A VETTE NOW!
All thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated

I suspect that car had the Optional Sport Exhaust. It bypasses the muffler cores at high rpm and high throttle. Its a work around to get them pass the Federal Noise Test. The standard exhaust isnt that loud.
No the 5.0 wont sound like that unless you put a muffler delete (Like Loudmouths) on it.
At 3200 lb and 436 bhp the M6 Vette runs with a GT500. Stock LS3 A6 Vettes have run low 12's.
They will be at least 3/4 second faster than a 5.0 A6 in my opinion.
You are comparing Apples to Oranges.

It was a C6 2009 With the 2LT package and the touring and sports mode-----during my test drive i think that little dial was set to TOUR----
It was your "run of the mill" bone stock C6--------No work or anything done to the exhaust
When i started it up, it idled so quietly i was dissapointed, but then i reved the engine while in park and it ROARD like no other!!!
As i sit here and type awaiting for my wife to finish dinner, i am figuring out how to get one of those Vettes in my garage-----
Sad to say but unless i hear and feel that new 5.0 stang similar to the C6----I AM NOT ORDERING ONE

Well, if you're sure it didn't have dual-mode exhaust and you're that impressed, you should go try to find one with the dual-mode exhaust. It's pretty sick, and you'll need that engine sound, because the stock radio sucks. (Yeah, I know, what stock car doesn't these days? But... the Corvette's in particular ) I'd personally recommend that and the Z51 package in a vette.
Still worth checking out a 5.0 and a Corvette (make sure you find one with dual-mode exhaust). Also, remember, if the engine sound isn't big enough on the 5.0, there is always the option of ripping out the tube's insulation!

It's what you get for an extra $10k! Though comparing what came in that 2009 Corvette to what's in a 2010/11 Mustang, I'd say the interior on the Mustang has a definite edge as far as gizmos go. Maybe Chevy fixed that for the 2010, dunno!

Hold the presses. A Mustang isn't much like a C6 'Vette?
Seriously. I like Mustangs as much as the next guy, but there's really no comparison to a 'Vette. Two totally different approaches to the same end result: a fine automobile.

Is it your fun/weekend car or is it for a daily driver. This changes the equation entirely. Corvettes are awesome performing cars but IMHO suck as a daily driver. Friend of mine ended up trading his Daily driven C6 in for a Jeep SRT8 after a while.

well i work from home- and have put 18,000 miles on my 2008 GT/CS Vert-------
It is so babied its getting 19.7 mpg
i love stangs----NEVER bought a car for myself other than a stang (im 30 years old) and i have bought about 5 of them new (had a 04 mach 1)
Had nothing to do today so i stopped at the local chevy dealer, and they immediately threw me in vette for test drive-----
I HAVE BEEN BLOWN AWAY SINCE!
I WANT ONE!

Why "hold the presses"??!!!
With the new 5.0 outputting 412 HP and a superfine suspension, the new stang should be able to compete with the c6, no?

If you can get a deal on an '09 c6 that suits you, don't need the additional practicality of the Mustang, and don't mind the IMO subpar interior of the c6 then by all means get the vette. Performance wise it's a great car, but I hope you have a second car handy cause I wouldn't want to have to live with one day in day out. Thats not what it's made for.

IMO, no Mustang is comparable to any Vette. Two vastly different cars that serve different purposes. A 2011 GT, while stout, would be no match against a C6 Vette (most especially the LS3 versions - 2008+) in any contest of speed (acceleration, handling, braking, etc).
And that's ok. The 2011 GT was not designed to do that - it was put together to beat Camaro.

I would say you worded that really funny... it has nothing to do with what the mustang gt was made to compete with.
Fact is the corvette is a LIGHT 2 seater that really is not all that practical for an every day driver, you can buy a Mustang GT heck even a shelby and drive that car every day reliably. Even in the winters here in canada, mustang GT is a great winter vehicle if you throw on winter tires.
So really when comparing the corvette and mustang, its almost as fair as comparing the corvette to a motorcycle.....
