Shelby American Pumps Up the 2015 Mustang with 627-HP Shelby GT
With Ford looking to shed the Mustang’s past quarter-mile exploits in favor of a track-hungry beast, it leaves a door wide-open for those who want their pony car with a bit more horsepower – and not that much suspension.
That said, who better to spice up the 2015 Mustang than Shelby American, Inc.? Ford may think that the days of the supercharged V8s are over and that more people want a track-focused monster, but Shelby seems to believe that there are still a few people out there who just want to go fast. That’s why the company has released its 2015 Shelby GT … with at least 627 horsepower.
Just take that in for a second. Shelby is releasing one of the most powerful Mustangs ever – and it hasn’t even been a year since the S550 came out.
Shelby has stated that the full 627-horsepower package will cost you just $39,995. However, that doesn’t include the donor Mustang GT, which will give you a grand total of somewhere around $70,000. That’s a heck of a lot when you consider you could buy a Hellcat for cheaper and that that would come with more horsepower.
What do you guys think? Is this the deal of the century or is Shelby just a shell of its former self?
