RXN Motorsports immaculate 1967 Mustang Fastback Restomod is a menacing SEMA show car.
First-generation Mustangs are automotive design legends, and fans of the pony car around the world adore every iteration of this glorious sports car. We have come across several immaculate restorations and restomods of classic Mustangs over the years like Robert Butler’s ’65 Fastback and Ringbrothers’ 1967 Copperback restomod.
We expected some radical Mustang modifications to come our way during the 2020 SEMA Show and RXN Motorsports managed to surpass all our expectations. The Canadian auto restoration outfit unveiled a murdered-out reproduction of a 1967 Mustang Fastback that comes with a few surprises up its sleeve.
Mustang enthusiasts are a passionate lot which is why one has to be incredibly careful while restomodding Ford’s legendary pony car. The team at B is for Build will vouch that even the tiniest details can end up making or breaking the project that includes using the right nomenclature for the build. When working with an all-black paint scheme, one has to make sure that each body panel is in pristine condition because the paint scheme will highlight any imperfections.
RXN Motorsports enlisted the services of Sharp Touch Restorations that managed to fabricate a flawless ’67 Mustang body with almost clinical attention to detail. The entire ensemble flaunts a menacing black color scheme that flows into the interior. The car comes equipped with full LED headlights and angel eye foglights. A raised sheet metal hood replaces the stock unit and flaunts dual air vents and Whipple Supercharger badging on the power dome. RXN’s
Mustang fastback rides on 20-inch US Mags rims that are wrapped in Michelin’s low-profile Pilot Sport 4S tires.
Inside the cabin, we find quilted leather seats and door panels that sport contrasting red stitching that complements the red lighting of the instrument cluster. Custom-built side mirrors are mounted on the doors which also get flushed door handles. Almost every panel adorning the rear of the car is bespoke including the decklid spoiler, the quarter panels, the lower valence, and the rear bumper. The car’s stainless steel four-outlet exhaust system gets Nissan GT-R tips and makes a bellowing noise.
RXN’s Mustang fastback is powered by a second-gen Boss 302 V8 motor which is mated to a Whipple supercharger. According to RXN Motorsports, the 5.0-liter powerplant produces 800 horsepower in this state of tune and therefore it was vital to run a high-performance Wilwood brake setup on all four wheels to reign in the performance delivered by this hellish steed.
