Rumor Confirmed: 2015 Mustang Gets Burnout Control
So the Blue Oval’s official name for it is “Line Lock,” but less than 20 seconds into this video, Ford Stability Control Engineer Scott Mlynarczyk refers to it how enthusiasts surely will going forward—it’s a “burnout feature.”
Tech-wise, it’s nothing new. Drag racers have been using line lock systems—which clamp down the front brakes independently of the rear—for years to make it easier to get the tires hot before making passes down the strip. But the idea that a major manufacturer would equip cars which them from the factory is kind of bonkers.
But I have concerns about the fine print sporadically hovering over the bottom of the video. It reads: “Professional driver on closed course. Racing your vehicle will void your warranty.”
