Rare Ford Mustang Roush Barrett-Jackson Edition Heads Back to Auction
This particular Mustang Roush Barrett-Jackson Edition is the first of 25 produced, and all proceeds go to charity.
The Ford Mustang Roush Barrett-Jackson Edition was produced as a collaboration between Sherwin-Williams, Roush, and auction house Barrett-Jackson back in 2010. A mere 25 of these special cars were made in total, and this particular example – owned by Chris Connor of The Sherwin-Williams Company – is heading back to the auction block at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction this March.
This also just so happens to be the first of the 25 Mustang Barrett-Jackson cars produced, which makes it even more special. And as one might imagine, 100% of the proceeds from the car’s sale will go to a worthy cause – in this case, the Michael Phelps Foundation, which was founded by Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps and promotes healthy lifestyles by expanding the opportunities for participation in the sport of swimming, particularly for children.
As for the car itself, there are many features present that set it apart from all the other S197 Mustangs out there in the world. That starts on the outside, where it’s finished in Planet Color’s Red Hot Chili Pepper paint with Snow White graphics. Other exterior upgrades including an upper and lower billet grille, a complete body kit, and 20-inch chrome alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance Cooper RS3 tires.
Underneath, the Mustang Barrett-Jackson Edition sports ROUSH front struts, rear shocks, front and rear springs, front and rear stabilizer bars, jounce bumpers, and four-piston front brakes with 14-inch rotors and painted rear calipers with slotted rotors.
The heart of this build is, without a doubt, its engine, which has been treated to a Roush R2300 supercharger, forged internals, custom intake manifolds, intercoolers, radiators, cold-air induction, and a thoroughly revised fuel system. That’s good enough for 540 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission with an upgraded clutch.
Inside, the limited-edition Mustang features leather seats with an embroidered Barrett-Jackson logo, four-piece performance pedals, ROUSH illuminated sill plates, a short-throw ball shifter, and a customized production nameplate with number 001 engraved in it.
