Rare ’69 Shelby GT 500 Goes for $280,000
Well, that classic American beauty recently pulled in $280,000 at an auction in Centre Hall, PA, according to a Central PA news report, which really shouldn’t come as surprise considering how rare of a find it is as ’69 Shelby with only 8,500 miles.
What is a bit unusual is that the car was actually bought by someone who lives right there in Centre Hall, the same area where it was first purchased.
Apparently, thousands from around the country came to see how much the car would go for including the dealer who sold the Shelby to its original owner, Larry Brown, back in 1969 for $5,000.
The lucky buyer, George Cowfer, who owns a coal business in the area, now owns six Ford Shelby Mustangs.
Yup, I’d say lucky would be putting it mildly.
