Hey, legends really never die. That’s why they’re called legends because their legacy lives on forever. The idea that Ford could be considering the idea of making a Bullitt trim package for the new Mustang (as reported by the Auto Blog), makes perfect sense to us.

The news source says their spy photographer who captured shots of the Mustang on the road said the paint is a “dead ringer” for the color that has graced Bullitt models in the past.

To date, there have only been two Mustangs that have carried the iconic Bullitt nameplate made famous by the 1968 movie starring Steve McQueen. They include models offered in 2001 and 2008.

Autoblog does note that the Mustang spotted could just be a model painted in a new color named Guard that’s being offered for 2015. We’re hoping that it is indeed a Bullitt trim package, which would definitely be a nice addition to the car’s 50th Anniversary celebration.
