Gas Monkey Garage put up the 1972 Ford Mustang Fastback for sale on EBay for 24 hours after showing it on an episode of “Fast and Loud”. It sold for over $50,000.00, but was it because it was an awesome resto-mod or because of the show? Let’s take a look into the car itself.

According to the description, the car is an original and unmodified 72 Fastback Mustang. It was the original green paint and interior with only 47,480 miles. It had everything from the wheel covers to the owner’s manual and could have been the perfect candidate for a full restoration.

However, being Gas Monkey Garage they couldn’t be content with just making it a restoration project. They wanted to have a little fun with it, too! First thing to go was the original intake and carburetor, being replaced with a Holley Carburetor and Pro Comp intake manifold.

Next were some more modern American Racing AR500 rims with a set of Toyo Proxes in 215/60R17 front and 235/55R17 in the back. The height was lowered to give it a better stance.

Further improvements went to the exterior, where Mach 1 parts replaced the Hood, lower spoiler, and lime green stripes. The interior was restored by Sue at ASM, who scares Rick. The car sold for $51,377.77 despite there not being a reserve. Do you think it sold for a fair price or did it sell as high as it did thanks to being on “Fast and Loud”?
