JDM Fox Body Mustang? You’ve Never Seen Anything Like This

Japanese street racer meets Mustang in newest Hoonigan Daily Transmission video.

Ron Baugh has heard a lot of hate online regarding his ’91 Mustang Fox Body. He gets tons of trolls telling him he’s ruined a perfectly good Fox after they’ve seen what changes he’s made to his beloved Mustang dubbed “Project Kitsune.”

In the newest video by The Hoonigans, they introduce viewers to Project Kitsune (“kitsune” is Japanese for “fox”), which is the culmination of a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. Ron took his Mustang Foxbody, and made it almost unrecognizable. You’d think this car was built by the baddest Japanese racers. From the fenders and the side mirrors to the two different sized wheels, this Mustang only resembles a standard Foxbody at first glance, and that’s by design.

The most unique aspect of the build is probably the crazy wrap that is on the hood. Inspired by a Japanese mural, Ron transferred it completely to cover the entire hood. You can’t help but be taken aback by the bright red racing interior that boldly contrasts the white body color. Just to prove that there’s care put into the design, the red is also seen inside the wheels and on the calipers. Of course, the Fox Body isn’t all show, it’s a beast under the hood as well. Admitting that he hasn’t had the engine professionally tuned, Ron says that his friend has the exact same set-up and puts out a whopping 592 horsepower. Not too shabby.

Of course, since it’s a Daily Transmission video, you know you’re going to get some crazy burnouts and donuts. This video is no different. The Fox Body initially does well until it breaks a belt during the donuts. Not to be deterred, Ron decides to go beltless during his burnout, which lasts a good 7 or 8 seconds until the car just gives up.

As one of the guys in the video says, “[I] just watched it piss its guts out!”

At the end of the day, Ron and the Hoonigans were all very happy with the result, and how badass a Japanese-inspired Fox Body could be.
