Mustang Most Popular Sports Car among Women

This certainly is shaping up to be a winning year for the Mustang.

Following news that the S550 is well on its way to be crowned the most popular car for 2015, we’re now learning that the sixth gen model is also the most coveted sports car among women.

According to global sales data compiled by the IHS, Mustangs have accounted for 36 percent of the entire sports car purchases by women in 2015, as highlighted in a Tech Times report. The most popular model among women, notes the IHS report, is the EcoBoost engine.
“Women like it because it is a practical choice,” Erich Merkle, Ford’s U.S. sales analyst, is quoted as saying in the Tech Times report. “It looks great, and it provides good performance and fuel efficiency.”

It makes sense especially considering that women like Marcy Fisher, Michele Lubin Henney, Susan Lampinen and Melanie Banker (pictured above) played a major role in bringing the new Mustang to life.

Let’s just hope that all this talk of the Mustang’s female appeal doesn’t discourage some male buyers who’ve been considering their first pony car buy.
