Mustang Crash in Los Angeles Nearly Splits Car in Half
Fatal Mustang crash in the Los Angeles area saw the car lose control, smash into a tree, and catch on fire. Remarkably, two survived.
Unfortunately, we’ve seen all too often how quickly adrenaline can override common sense and lead to an accident. This recent Mustang Crash in Woodland Hills, a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California, left one passenger dead and the driver in the hospital. This, like most crashes, is a dark reminder of how quickly things can go wrong when driving a rear-wheel-drive car with substantial power. Yes, we all love these cars because their performance makes them fun to drive. However, it’s important to stay humble behind the wheel.
According to KTLA, the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. as a blue Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on Valley Circle Boulevard. According to police, the vehicle lost control, skidded across lanes, and slammed into a tree near Valerie Avenue. The Mustang was essentially torn in half, prompting authorities to establish a large perimeter around the crash site.
Investigators confirmed that a passenger died at the scene, while the driver and another passenger survived. The wreckage is so severe that it’s hard to even make out what generation of Mustang this is. In addition, KTLA blurred the footage as seen in the photo above.
A Tragic Reminder to Drive Within Your Limits
Police said the driver and one passenger were able to get out of the burning vehicle on their own. However, another passenger was trapped inside. Firefighters arrived within minutes and used the Jaws of Life to pull the trapped passenger from the wreckage.
Despite their efforts, that passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has not yet been identified. The driver was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in serious condition. The second surviving passenger was treated at the scene and did not require immediate transport, according to investigators.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances leading up to the collision, including interviewing witnesses and reviewing any possible surveillance footage from the area that could provide additional information. At the moment, it’s unclear if any drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. As of early morning, the investigation remained active. Officials were awaiting the arrival of the medical examiner to remove the body of the deceased passenger, while officers continued documenting the scene and gathering evidence.
This is another unfortunate case of a driver’s mistake costing someone else their lives. Unfortunately, this is all too common. So, try to keep yourself composed behind the wheel of your Mustang and remember that this can happen to anyone. Moreover, don’t drive like you’re on a race track while on surface streets. It’s just not worth it.
