Michigander Still Hopes to Build CNG-Powered Mustang

Performance CNG LLC Mustang

A Michigander with a love for Mustangs is hoping to find a few more fans of the pony car to help develop an experimental spin on the car. Well, “experimental” for those of us in the world of Mustangs. Through his company, Performance CNG LLC, and crowdfunding site Indiegogo, Daryl Patrishkoff wants to create a street-legal compressed natural gas (CNG) powered Mustang with 470 horsepower.

The idea is to create an aspirational American car that’s less dependent on foreign oil. According to the team, the CNG-powered Mustang would be 40 percent cheaper to run than a gasoline-powered version, and it would have 30 percent less greenhouse gas emissions.

There’s only one problem: the company needs $55,000 to pull the project off, and it has only raised $150 dollars so far. Even more pressing is that they’ve a set deadline of May 28 to come up with all the funds.

Yup, that’s May 28, 2014, which is a week from now.

Patrishkoff says most of the money would go to EPA testing, as well as fuel economy, emissions and horsepower validation. For more information about the project, visit the Indiegogo website.
