Meet Lucky Bear, the Seven-Second Green Machine

Lucky Bear 2

Pulling off a seven-second run in a street-legal Mustang isn’t something you’d ever call run-of-the-mill.

Nope, that kind of performance requires a special touch, which is why racer Lonnie Tibbs’ newest car, known as “Lucky Bear,” is such a special piece of machinery. As highlighted in a Dragzine report, Tibbs touts the boosted up Fox Body Mustang as his fastest car yet. Which says a lot, considering he’s been racing since he was 15.

Painted in “Got To Have It Green,” the converted 1990 Mustang is equipped with a 385 cubic inch small-block Ford built by Bill Klein at On The Bumper Performance Engine. Oh, and it cranked out over 1,285 horsepower on the dyno.

Tibbs’ best run to date in “Lucky Bear” is a jolt of 7.85 at over 184 mph. Although, with a few more street shoot-outs lined-up in 2016, we fully expect “Lucky Bear” to be knocking a few fractions off that time by the end of the year.
