Kodi Mach 1 2

There’s nothing like a great personal Mustang story to make you appreciate the fact that many people have a connection to the Ford pony car that goes much deeper than sheet metal.

Such is the case with Kodi Johnson and his 1970 Mach 1 Mustang, which was recently showcased at the Route 66 Festival in Springfield, Montana. Three years ago, Kodi was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma, which is a form of blood cancer.

To help lift his spirits, the Make-a-Wish Foundation stepped up and offered the teen the chance to get a car or go on a trip. Kodi opted for the car, but the organization told him they’d restore one for him, rather than buying something new, according to a KY 3 news report.

Two-and-a-half years later, Kodi was handed the keys to this beautiful blue Mach 1. Now, Kodi spends a lot of his free time showcasing his Mustang at car shows. And even better, his cancer is in remission.
