It’s a gorgeous build, but it’s also an electric car. Does the Charge Cars Mustang pass the enthusiast sniff test?

When we first laid eyes upon the Charge Cars Mustang, we were flabbergasted. Stunned. In awe. This very well might be one of the most beautiful Mustang restomod builds ever created. Uncluttered, smooth as glass, and in a menacing black paint, this Mustang from Charge Cars looks the part. But it’ll never sound the part. Because it has no sound at all. It’s electric.

EV power is increasing in popularity and even being swapped into classics to give them an extra lease on life, but for a Mustang, it just seems so wholeheartedly out of place. Maybe some stats will help boost this Mustang’s appeal. Acceleration to 0-60 is claimed to be 3.9 seconds. Mechanical horsepower is rated at 537 and torque is a monstrous 1033 lb/ft of torque. So it’s got the performance. Again, it just has no sound to go woth that performance. and with those looks, we feel it should.

It also has a beautiful interior, too. Few of the Mustangs original queues have been kept. Instead, Charge Cars went with a clean slate approach. The double bubble dash is a slight nod to the past, as is the thin spoke steering wheel. But a big center screen and chunky center console dominate the interior… after you’ve looked past the light brown leather bucket seats. Even the rear cargo hold has been appointed with that same leather.

Underhood? Well, there’s no shots of that. Because the engine might not actually be there. Or it could be there, and in the back too. After all, it is all-wheel-drive. A 200 mile range is also given, as is 50kw charging, along with a 64kwh battery.

But there is one deterrent to the current. It’s £350,000. Or in other words, $460,000. It’s beautiful, but considering there’s Mustangs with proper prestige and heritage to be had for the same amount of money (or less), it’ll be a tough sell. Either way, Charge Cars plans on selling 499 of them.
