Is the Mustang GT350R Worth the Extra Cheddar?

In this constant worldwide cat-and-mouse game of building the best sport vehicles, the Americans always seem to have a leg up in the performance-per-dollar department. From the Hellcats to the Z06s to the Shelbys, nothing outside of our country tops the modern American muscle car’s value quotient. But because performance is having a Golden Age right now, there are a ton of choices, even within single bloodlines. A perfect example is whether somebody should buy that Shelby GT350, or spring for the more extensive (and expensive) GT350R package.

Now, remember, the GT350R is a car that Matt Farah called the greatest Mustang of all time. The 526-horsepower, 5.2-liter, flat-plane-crank V8; the carbon fiber wheels; TREMEC 6-speed manual; TORSEN differential; magnetic shocks and 15.5-inch Brembo brakes all work together to make one beautifully vicious machine.
