Another One

American Mustang fan have a plethora of high performance aftermarket parts and entire tuned models to choose from. But the U.S. isn't the only Mustang-crazed country on the planet. In fact, Australia has quite a few interesting offerings to choose from, and legendary tuner Herrod Performance has just unleashed another one - the SM17 Scott McLaughlin Edition.

Namesake

McLauglin, as motorsports fans already know, is a highly successful Supercars and Indy driver who just so happens to drive a Ford Mustang in the former of the two racing series. So it makes perfect sense that a tuned, road-going Mustang would bear his name, and that's exactly the motivation behind this beast.

Looks Upgrade

To create the SM17, Herrod starts out with a regular old Mustang GT and then adds a dose of style and performance. In the looks department, the SM17 receives a new lower front grille, bigger front splitter, a rear wing, matte black stripes, and black exhaust tips.

Refined Cabin

The interior receives a bit of attention as well, as Herrod adds custom SM17 embroidery in the headrests, upgraded leather for the seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and lots of badges so everyone that hops in knows you're driving something special.

Big Power

The real meat of the SM17 lies under the hood, however, where you'll find Whipple's 3.0-liter supercharger, a high-flow fuel system, and a giant intercooler that helps the car's 5.0 make 764 horsepower and 597 pound-feet of torque. Behind that, buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or Ford's 10-speed automatic transmission.

Rubber to The Road

Herrod then gives Ford's stock MagneRide suspension its own special calibration, a set of adjustable sway bars, and recalibrated damper control modules to help put that power to the road. It's all capped off with a set of unique 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires measuring in at 275/35 up front and 305/30 in the rear.
