1. Exterior Upgrades

Not that anyone has complained about the looks of the previous Mustang, but Ford took it upon themselves to take the new Mustang a step further. For starters, the 2018 Mustang gets a lowered-hood, which truly pays tribute to the original '60s Mustangs, especially when coupled with the thinner grille. The aggressive-looking hood sits between two remodeled headlights, which are equipped with LED lights. In fact, all the trim-levels get LED lights as a stock feature. If you choose the Pony package, your Mustang will come with a different emblem.

2. Interior Upgrades

On the inside, customers will get more color and pattern options for the upholstery, which comes in cloth, but the leather is always an option. Drivers will have the freedom of customizing their instrument cluster, which is displayed on a 12-inch LCD screen and has three display modes. As you go through the five packages offered with the new Mustang, you will see different trim around the cabin, and an even upgraded Mustang logo with the Tri-Bar, just like the original Mustangs.

3. Transmission Upgrades

The automatic Mustangs will get Ford's new 10-speed transmission, which was designed in collaboration with General Motors. The new transmission features over one-million codes, and it plays a major role in the comfort of the ride, the fuel consumption, and the performance of the new Mustang. The new computer allows the gearbox to up-shift or downshifts as many gears as needed for whatever the situation calls for. The manual Mustangs will get an upgraded version of the six-speed transmission, which allows for better throttle response.

4. Engine

The new Mustang will lose its six-cylinder engine, and now customers will get to choose from either the 4-cylinder 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine or the 5.0-liter V8 Coyote engine. However, Ford promises more horsepower for both of these motor options. Ford hasn't released the actual horsepower and torque. However, they claim the transient over-boost will increase both the horsepower and the torque.

5. Technology Upgrades

In an attempt to further enhance the driving experience, Ford equipped the new Mustang with new suspension, including the MagneRide damping system. This allows it to perform better on the road and on the track. On a safety note, the 2018 Mustang will feature options like the all-new Ford driver assist, which features the pre-collision and pedestrian-detection features; as well as automatic emergency braking, lane-departure assist, and driver alert system.

6. Release Date

The news about all of the new upgrades to the 2018 Ford Mustang is making it hard to be patient. Ford hasn't announced the exact date that the 2018 Mustang will be released, but they claim it will be at your nearest dealership in the fall of 2017. Pricing hasn't been released either, but it should start at approximately $27,000.
