Fabulous Fords Forever at Angel Stadium of Anaheim 2019

While in years’ past the event was hosted at Knotts Berry Farm and to no one’s surprise, the crowds were at capacity. What is Fabulous Fords Forever!?
Fabulous Fords Forever! began as the west’s ultimate all-Ford show in 1986, though its actual start began two years prior. You see, that’s when the idea first came to Johnna Pepper, who in 1983 had just finished his 23-year career with Ford. To help ease him into retirement, Ford set Pepper up as a car club coordinator. His first task: commemorate the upcoming 20th anniversary of the Mustang in 1984. So, with the backing of Ford Motor Company and the help of numerous Mustang and Ford clubs in Southern California, the "Mustang Jamboree" was presented at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center at Griffith Park in April 1984. More than 500 Mustangs and hundreds of other Ford-powered vehicles showed up at the show. Participation was so good that the decision was made to have an all-Ford car show as an annual event.
What goes on at these shows?
Attendees receive a goody bag that includes flyers provided by all supporting car clubs and a cloisonné pin commemorating the event. All of the clubs are allocated a small area near the main tent to set up canopies and hand out information. Celebrities attend these shows, including Sally Struthers who came with her early 1936 Ford V8 convertible and Richard Carpenter who showed off his 1958 Edsel. There are hundreds upon hundreds of Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles on display, and everyone socializes and interacts over their affection for the brand’s many different car types.

Why Angels Stadium of Anaheim?
The Fabulous Fords Forever! show has been held at Knotts Berry Farm all these years. However, the Farm needed to do work to expand its territory this year, and the popularity of the show showed no signs of dwindling. Simply put: space was an issue. And so, the decision was made to have the show hosted in the parking lot of Angels Stadium of Anaheim for this year.

How did this year’s event go?
The one thing most people commented on as it related to this year’s event is the amount of extra space they felt while attending the show; that is, it wasn’t all that cramped. This year’s event celebrated 116 years of the Ford Motor Company being around. Also celebrated was Mercury’s eight decades as a car brand, 60 years of the Ford Galaxie, and 55 years of the Ford Mustang. The event specifically highlighted the 50th anniversary of the Boss Mustang and Mach1 Mustang. All told, there were 57 show classes as well as live music and on-stage interviews, not to mention displays from Shelby and Saleen. As far as the rest of the field, there was a nice mix of pre-war classics like the Model A, along with non-Mustang vehicles such as the Focus RS.
