Hooray! First Sub-10-Second 2015 Mustang
Obviously the guys from AmericanMuscle and Bama Performance took the quote “Anybody wanna go fast?” from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby more seriously than anyone else. How do we know that? Because they just took the first 2015 Ford Mustang into the sub-10-second window on the drag strip.
The 2015 Mustang in this video ran a 9.91 ET at 135.41 mph. For comparison’s sake, the stock car runs a very respectable 12.8 at 112.2 mph.
Nevertheless, how did they find 20+ more mph and jump almost three full seconds ahead of stock? A very extensive mod list, that’s how.
- Custom exhaust
- JLT Cold Air
- Cobra Jet suspension
- New half-shafts
- New driveshaft
- Boss intake
- Nitrous express 150 shot
- New fuel pump
- New injectors
- Lightweight bumpers
- Slicks from Mickey Thompson
- Massive weight reduction
- Bama Performance track tune
In other words, it’s not so much a stock car any longer. In fact, it’s an all-out race machine and we all want a go in it.
This video just proves the amazing performance index this new Mustang has to offer. While many bemoaned the new IRS system, it doesn’t appear to have hurt any drag strip capabilities. What’s your take on this S550 Mustang milestone?
