Venom 1000 GT500

Jason Haynes from Hennessey Performance Engineering offers a detailed look at the all-new Venom 1000 GT500.

We can always count on Hennessy Performance Engineering to push the envelope when it comes to extracting extraordinary levels of performance out of sports cars which are pretty impressive, to begin with. The tuner recently uploaded a video on its official YouTube channel, which features HPE’s all-new Venom 1000 GT500.

Hennessy Performance Engineering’s Director of Research and Development, Jason Haynes, gives us an in-depth look at the sports car as he test drives the new Venom 1000 GT 500 around the Pennzoil proving ground. Haynes kicks off the video by complimenting Ford for their work with the Mustang GT500, and we agree with his assessment.

“Now what makes this Venom 1000 GT500 so special is not just what’s under the hood, but what’s outside, what ford has already done so well that we don’t really have to improve much on, just simply because it’s so well done from Ford,” said Haynes.

Hennessy upgraded the cooling bricks of the factory supercharger. Furthermore, to improve the performance of the Venom 1000 GT500 powertrain, the tuner also installed a cold air induction system.

In addition to the cinematic shots of the sports car, intoxicating exhaust notes also greet us throughout the video. We find a large wing that sits atop a quad exhaust system at the rear. “Ford does a great job with the factory exhaust system and the factory manifolds. So there’s actually four modes on the exhaust; you have quiet mode, you have normal mode, you have sport, and then you have track mode,” explains Haynes.

The Venom 1000 GT500 in the video gets Hennessy’s carbon fiber package. As a result, the car rides on a set of carbon fiber wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Under the hood of HPE’s Venom 1000 GT500, we find a 5.2-liter V8 powerplant that retains its original supercharger.

However, after receiving Hennessy’s performance upgrades and some E85 racing fuel, the motor churns out 1000 HP of power at 7000 RPM and 850 lb-ft of peak torque which is a massive improvement over the stock power output of 760 HP.
