Hennessey 2015 Mustang First to Break 200 MPH Mark
I’m sure Hennessey Performance will be glowing over this one for a while — and rightfully so. Being the first company to power a 2015 Mustang past the 200 mph mark is certainly something to be proud of.
Hennessey Performance broke the barrier with driver Brian Smith running the Hennessey HPE750 Supercharged Mustang to a top speed of 207.9 mph at the Continental Tire Proving Grounds in Texas.
Jay Leno was even on hand for the record breaking run, filming an upcoming episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, which will air later on CNBC.
Earlier this year, company founder and president, John Hennessey hit a top speed of 195 mph in an HPE700 Supercharged Mustang on the same track.
“If at first you don’t succeed, just add more horsepower and rpm and try again,” said Hennessey. “It’s pretty cool to be able to offer an American muscle car that delivers supercar performance for under $70,000.”
