GT Squared: Custom ‘Grand Turismo’ Tribute Blends Ford GT with Mustang

Grand Turismo Tribute

If you like the concept of the Grand Turismo Tribute and have $89,000 to spare you can drive off in this one today.

The Ford GT is a thrilling super car. It is also difficult to obtain, and prohibitively expensive. On the other hand, you have the Ford Mustang GT. The Mustang is a lot more common and far less exotic. But it has every bit the heritage of the GT and is quite a performance car in its own right. All for less than 10 percent of the cost of the GT. But for some the Mustang is just not enough, even the Shelby versions. So, what do you do when you have Ford GT taste but are not heir to the Mars family fortune? The Grand Turismo Tribute that you see here might be the answer.

So, what exactly is a Grand Turismo Tribute? You can think of it as a Mustang and a GT mash-up with a price much closer to the Mustang side of the equation. The car is the brainchild of Kenny Pfitzer the founder of Kenny Pfitzer Design. Pfitzer has been in the automotive industry for over 20 years and has been responsible for thousands of custom builds. Prior to starting his own company he had a five-year run at West Coast Customs and served as COO at Foose Designs with Chip Foose. Pfitzer is not some shade tree mechanic making body kits out of a shed. His builds are first rate and this one is currently for sale on Street Car Market for $89,000.

$89,000 is far less than it would cost to buy even a salvage title Ford GT. But it is still a lot of money. So, what exactly do you get for the price? First, you get the looks. The car styling was inspired by the Ford GT. Now, no one is going to mistake this car for a real GT. However, it certainly has a much more exotic flair to it than a run of the mill Mustang GT. And the overall design flows well. Nothing looks tacked on or silly. Most folks (Mustang aficionados not included) who see it on the street would probably think it is some sort of foreign built exotic. Especially from the rear. And the rear is likely the view that most on the street will see. This car makes 750 horsepower at the wheels.

Upgraded Coyote

Performance Modifications

The engine is an upgraded Ford factory long block Gen II 5.0L Coyote. That is paired with a ProCharger Stage 2 supercharger kit. The fuel system is upgraded with 1000cc fuel injectors and a Kenne Bell Boost-a-Pump system. Power is routed through a Getrag MT-82 6-speed manual transmission. The original stereo has been upgraded with amps and subwoofers, but that is not where the real music comes from.

That would be from the American Racing headers followed by a custom-made 3-inch exhaust system with Magnaflow center exit mufflers. The suspension uses an adjustable Eibach Pro-Street-S Coilover setup along with an Eibach sway bar. 22-inch HRE P204 wheels are at the corners. Stopping is handled by 6-piston Brembo brakes up front and 3-piston brakes out back.

Interior

Interior

The exterior looks exotic, and the car has the performance chops to back it up. But a custom car is not complete without some interior tweaks and this Grand Turismo Tribute has them. There is the alcantara and carbon fiber steering wheel which goes well with the black leather and alcantara interior with red stitching. The headliner is also alcantara. The driver and the passenger will be riding in Recaro seats. And if you do ever get tired of the exhaust sound, you can crank up that upgraded stereo.

This car only has 17,000 miles on the chassis and just 1,500 miles since the build was completed. The car is also offered with a clean title. It is not cheap, but this is an amazing build and when was the last time you bumped into another Grand Turismo Tribute at a cars and coffee event? We don’t know how many are out there, but we are willing to bet they a rarer than a Ford GT. If you like your performance Ford to be a little out of the ordinary, this is the car for you.
