George W. Bush Auctions GT350 Mustang for $885,000
Our veterans are one of the most overlooked groups of people that are truly struggling in the United States today. Many have both physical and emotional scars upon returning from war, and not enough is being done to help support them or their families. But one man is stepping up — a man who isn’t exactly the most likely person you’d think of helping this group of people out: George W. Bush.
Yes, the man that many hold responsible for the debacle in Iraq and Afghanistan is now doing his best to try and help those service men and women he sent to war. To help, Bush teamed up with Jay Leno and Henry Ford III to auction off one of the pre-production Shelby GT350 Mustangs which Ford built.
The former U.S. President not only took the car for a ride around his home in Crawford, Texas, but he also signed the new track-ready Mustang, giving it more of a celebrity connection.
All hoped that the car would bring big money for the charity. And it did.
Helped along by Leno himself, who not only drove the car up onto the auction block but also banged the gavel, the pre-production car went for a staggering $885,000. Hopefully, this will help those who truly need it.
