Ford pumping $1 billion into Lincoln revival
http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/21/f...ncoln-revival/
So what will Lincoln get for all those zeros? As many as seven new products. The Navigator will reportedly be phased out by 2016, and the MKT is tipped to be dropped in favor of a luxury version of the Ford Explorer. A Focus-based C-segment sedan and crossover are also in the works, along with a new MKS sedan.

IHI's predictions re: Navigator and MKT are mostly like wrong. But the comments from Bob Tasca give good reason to be optimistic. If he is on-board with the products coming down the line, they're going to be good.

And stop trying to be an American BMW. Instead, start being again poor man's Rolls Royce. Sure, most of the buyers will be 90-year-olds, but who cares? Only 10 years ago Lincoln was #1 luxury manufacturer in the USA before this MK nonsense and trying to be an American BMW started.
wow what a waste of money and time..... I mean really WTF!! ford should of pumped that money into a new ford motor or car or fuel usage system or a car that can run on something other then corn, cain or dino guts...
and 90% of those cars are ugly

Lincoln will never be Cadillac. GM dropped olds because they were running out of old people to buy them.lol. I don't see Lincoln doing a hell of a lot better from any of this. It's not Mercedes or BMW. And not caddy. Unless they pump out some serious new advertising campaigns and redirect the publics view on Lincoln, they are not gonna sell. Caddy's advertising the last few years is some of the best I've seen. And Chrysler commercials are fantastic. I haven't noticed a Lincoln commercial in a very long time. I think it's a waste. More exciting ford models are what they need.
I am not saying it wont make money.. Just because you can make money doing something doesnt make it good future planning.
look at the toyota model for leasing out tech from the prius. pretty much every auto maker leases from them. What if they said "that 1986 camry needs a billion dumped into it".

GM dropped wrong brands in the USA. Buick was saved just because of the Chinese market.

as for lincoln, im glad ford is pumping more money into them but i'm hoping we see more dedicated tech, powertrain, sportiness, design cohesiveness, etc to their portfolio. only way of reaching that goal by 2015.
